Getting started
Do I have to connect my bank?
No. Screenshot or CSV import works with zero linking. Bank sync is optional, and you trigger it yourself.
Does OpenTeller use Plaid or an aggregator?
No. You bring the data in yourself. That's why it works with any bank in the world.
Which countries and banks are supported?
Any. There's no aggregator coverage list. If you can screenshot, export a CSV, or log into your bank's website, you're covered. See getting transactions in.
Is it free?
No. It's a paid app (Pro or Pro+). Pro+ has a 3-day free trial. See plans & billing.
Imports & bank sync
Does screenshot import upload my screenshots anywhere?
In iCloud mode, no. It's fully on-device. In account mode, the OCR text (not the image) is sent to OpenAI for more accurate parsing; the screenshot itself stays on your device.
Why does bank sync make me log in every time?
Because it's user-initiated by design. No aggregator and no stored credentials. You log in to your own bank and tap to sync. It's the trade-off for keeping your login off everyone's servers.
Will I get duplicate transactions?
No. Every import is reviewed before saving, and anything that matches a transaction you already have is flagged as a duplicate. More on imports.
Can I use Claude or another AI with my finances?
Yes, on Pro+. Connect over MCP. See MCP & API.
Privacy & data
Can you see my data?
In iCloud mode, no. It's in your own iCloud and we can't read it. In account mode, yes. Your data is on our servers so the web app, sync, and AI features can work. See privacy & your data.
How do I delete my account?
In account mode, delete it from Settings. It permanently removes everything on our servers, with no undo.
Can I switch between iCloud mode and an account?
Yes, in Settings. Your iCloud data stays put and comes back when you switch back.
Plans & devices
What devices does it run on?
iPhone and iPad. There's also a web app with an OpenTeller account (Pro+).
Do I need iOS 26 or Apple Intelligence?
The on-device AI features, screenshot import and the default Ask assistant, need an Apple-Intelligence-capable device on iOS 26+. CSV import and account-mode features work more broadly.
How do I cancel?
Manage or cancel in your App Store subscription settings, any time.
