Currency accounts
Money in two countries? Paid in one currency, spending in another? Keep each currency in its own account. One subscription covers them all.
What a currency account is
A currency account is a fully separate ledger inside your OpenTeller: its own transactions, its own budget, its own bank sources, its own recurring bills, in its own currency.
You start with one account, your primary. Add as many more as you need: CAD, USD, NGN, EUR, whatever your life spans. There's no limit, on any plan.
Switching
On iOS, tap the currency pill at the top of the Dashboard. On the web, use the account switcher in the sidebar. The whole app flips to that account: dashboard, transactions, budget, recurring, everything.
One account is on screen at a time. Nothing blends together.
No conversion, on purpose
Amounts stay in each account's own currency. A ₦50,000 grocery run is ₦50,000, not a wobbly dollar estimate that changes with the exchange rate.
That's why each account keeps its own budget too. Budgets only make sense in the currency you actually spend.
Works in both modes
Currency accounts work the same in iCloud mode and with an OpenTeller account. In iCloud mode each account lives in your own iCloud, end-to-end encrypted like everything else. With an OpenTeller account they sync to the web and your household.
Households
Your household members see all of your currency accounts and can switch between them, same as you. Only you can create, rename, or delete them.
Good to know
- Your primary account is permanent. You can rename it and change its currency, but not delete it.
- Deleting another account deletes its data with it, permanently. You'll be asked to confirm.
- Imports, bank syncs, and the Ask assistant all work inside whichever account is active.
- Duplicate detection is per account. The same charge can exist in two accounts without being flagged.
Living across two currencies shouldn't cost two subscriptions. Every plan includes unlimited currency accounts.
